A little time out at the Immerather Maar
Because the weather was so nice, I decided to grab my camera, go out into nature and take some photos. My way finally led me to the Immerather Maar. I have never been here before, also did not know that there is a maar here at all.
After I had parked my car at a parking lot above, the way led me first through dense forest. I was happy when I saw that the trees are starting to bud out.
Spring is no longer far and finally it will be warm again. This knowledge alone helps to improve my mood. And not only with me, it seems.
I followed the path down the valley until I finally saw water glistening behind a row of trees to my left in the sun that had come out from behind the clouds in the meantime. But only when I reached the shore did I have a clear view of the Maar. A family walked by laughing, a dog ran across the meadow, otherwise I was alone in nature. Slowly I began to stroll along the circular path on the shore. I enjoyed the warm rays of the sun on my face. Again and again I stopped to take photos: of the reeds swaying gently, of the ducks that hurriedly swam away as soon as I approached, of the reflections of the clouds in the smooth surface of the water.
I followed the circular path until I reached a small wooden bridge that spans the Nierbach. Here I paused for a moment and looked at the small brook, which gurgled merrily away. I let my thoughts wander. Do people realize what a unique landscape they are allowed to live in here?
I had to be careful on the other side: The ground was very muddy. But I managed to cross this part of the path on dry feet. On the further round way I climbed at free places again and again down to the bank of the Maares. Everywhere in the undergrowth it rustled. Also the animals seemed to have tanked up enough sun to become active again.
All too soon I had reached the end of the loop trail and set about climbing back up to my car. Before the trees became too dense, I stopped and took one last look back at the maar. Quiet and peaceful it lay there, almost untouched by people and nearby civilization. It gave me a break from everyday life. A short one only, but it was completely enough to continue with new energy.
