Learning from the sheep at the lookout tower Landesblick in Meerfeld

Ascent to the observation tower "Landesblick

I look out the window and lo and behold: the sun is shining and it's not raining for once! So, hiking boots on and nix like out. From my hotel in Meerfeld it goes once around the Meerfelder Maar and then through the forest on the height to the viewpoint Landesblick, there you should have a wonderful view over the Maar and the whole unique GesundLand Vulkaneifel have. Fast step, in the hope that the weather holds I reach the vantage point "Landesblick" and am rewarded for my courage to venture out in this winter weather on the most beautiful with a unique spectacle: around the Aussischtsplattform grazing peacefully a large flock of sheep!

Learning peace from the sheep in Meerfeld

I close my eyes for a moment and listen to the music of the sheep. Do you know this melody? When a whole herd eats and chews grass! I love this sound, I would love to lie down in the grass and listen for hours. It's pure meditation, it grounds me to the core. And when I watch the animals, I have to admit: it was the animals who invented Slow foot. Because they graze in peace and quiet, not letting anything distract them, always grazing, chewing, grazing, chewing, and when they have eaten enough, they lie down on the spot, digest and look at the landscape in a relaxed way. This is the concentration on the essentials that we humans lack in our increasingly hectic times. Thank you, sheep! I have learned a lot from you today, when you run, then you run, when you eat, then you eat. And when you rest, you rest. That's it! No cell phone, no internet, no TV on the side. There you go!
