In the middle of the bright green landscape of the Volcanic Eifel you can swim in a very special lake: a maar. Several natural outdoor pools invite you to jump into the cool water. Of course, there are also other outdoor pools and, in winter, indoor pools. So you don't have to miss out on the mineral-rich waters during your winter vacation.

Natural outdoor pool Schalkenmehrener Maar

Swimming is allowed in the largest of the three Daun maars. Just how huge the lake is becomes clear when you look at it from above: its surface area is equivalent to 21 soccer fields. After a hike you can dive into the water. During a boat trip you can relax with a view of the sparkling blue, let your thoughts run free and recharge your batteries for new tasks. Free Wi-Fi is also available in the area of the Maarbad!

Gemündener Maar natural outdoor pool

Plunge headfirst into the crystal clear water from the diving tower. Don't worry, you won't hit the bottom - the lake is 39 meters deep. So if you love the jumping thrill, you can really let off steam here. For the little visitors there is a secured non-swimmer area. Those who are not splashing around in the water can build sand castles in the shady sandbox. A kiosk, sunbathing lawn and climbing wall make the family outing perfect.

Pulvermaar natural outdoor pool

At 74 meters, Pulvermaar is one of the deepest lakes in Germany. From the three-meter-high diving tower, you can only guess at its bottom - even though the water is crystal clear. The chlorine-free non-swimmer and paddling pools invite you to romp around. On the meadows you can review your day in the Eifel and dream of the land of volcanoes. By the way, you can also make a romantic tour by rowing or pedal boat.

Meerfelder Maar natural outdoor pool

Bathing, fishing and experiencing nature - the Meerfelder Maar is located in the largest volcanic funnel of the Eifel and is a paradise for families with children. There is something to discover at every turn and also plenty of space to play and splash around. Rare animal and plant species can be observed in the nature reserve. From the viewing platform "Landesblick", which is located above the Maarkessel, you have a fantastic distant view.

Dive in and recharge your batteries: The Vulkaneifel-Therme is Germany's only Glauber salt spa and thus much more than a normal indoor pool. The spa is fed by a particularly mineral-rich spring, which was already relied on by the ancient Romans. You too can discover the healing effects of the thermal water.

Action is guaranteed at the Manderscheid outdoor pool. The wide water slide takes you down quickly into the cool water and then straight on to the diving area. There is plenty for the youngest guests to discover in the baby and toddler pool. The family outdoor pool is also suitable for guests with disabilities.

Laurentiusbad Daun

People with and without disabilities get their money's worth in this indoor pool. For example, the barrier-free pool has a mobile lift that lifts people in and out of the water.
