Explore the impressive beauty of the volcanic Eifel on three stages of the Eifelsteig: Maars, springs and castles are waiting to be discovered.
You can also comfortably travel to the fountain town of Gerolstein by public transport. After a relaxing night, this is the starting point of your hiking trip. Stamina is now required, because it goes constantly up and down through the rolling hills that characterize the landscape, to the spa town of Daun. Freshly invigorated by a hearty breakfast, the second stage takes you along the three Daun Maars; deep blue volcanic lakes whose shores invite you to pause for reflection. Far away from roads, the path now leads through the quiet Lieser valley before it goes up to the majestically enthroned castles of Manderscheid. Also on the next day, the Lieser accompanies the hikers for a part of the way before the Eifelsteig branches off and leads through forests, which again and again give a view of impressive Eifel heights, to Himmerod Abbey, the final point of the hike. Here, a very special experience awaits you at the end of the journey: an overnight stay in a monastery.
