Circular hike HealthyLand 360 degrees - 5 nights

You travel individually to Daun. The small, historic town in the heart of the Volcanic Eifel is best explored on an independent, leisurely tour. 

16,4 km, ascent 340 m, descent 346 m

Through the valley of the Lieser and over the Firmerich-Berg you pass the Schönbacher Mühle, over the Üssbach and through idyllic forests to Ulmen. There, the youngest Eifel maar awaits you with its just 11,000 years.

22,3 km, ascent 352 m, descent 441 m

Highlights worth seeing on this section are the Demerather Mill, the Strohner Fairy Tale - a silted up dry maar - and the Pulvermaar, unique witnesses of volcanism! At over 70 m, the Pulvermaar near Gillenfeld is the deepest body of water north of the Alps.

13.2 km, ascent 279 m, descent 296 m

With the mystical Holzmaar and the silted-up Dürre-Maar, volcanism also characterizes this stage. In addition, the medieval backdrop of the Manderscheider castles awaits you. After an ascent past the upper castle, you will finish the day via the Kaisertempelchen to Manderscheid.

Eifelsteig (23.4 km, ascent 564 m, descent 652 m)

You hike on the Eifelsteig back to Daun and pass the Maarsattel with views of the Schalkenmehrener Maar and the Weinfelder Maar. On the Mäuseberg, the Dronketurm offers fantastic views and a panoramic view of the volcanic Eifel.

Lieser trail (18.3 km, ascent 247 m, descent 319 m) 

On this alternative route back to Daun, you hike along the Lieserpfad past Weiersbach and pass the dreamy Gemündener Maar, which enchants with its mystical atmosphere. In the spa town of Daun you will find all kinds of charming places to stop for refreshments.
