The gentle climbs are followed by flat descents through beech forests. It smells of fresh forest air. Birdsong accompanies you on your way past maars and cinder cones. The route runs along the former Daun-Lieser railroad line. A tour on the Maare-Mosel cycle path is probably the most exciting and enjoyable way to discover the landscape between the green volcanic Eifel and the lovely Moselle.
The tour starts in Daun. The starting point is easily accessible by car or RegioRadler bus. If you want to go on a spontaneous bike tour, you can rent a bike or e-bike in Daun. A first, albeit small, challenge: the climb to the viaduct, which is 28 meters above the spa town. Even for untrained riders, however, this stage is easy to master. The effort is of course directly rewarded with a fantastic panoramic view. After passing the "Großes Schlitzohr", one of a total of four tunnels on the route, the route continues under the blue Eifel sky past the Daun Maars and other highlights of the Volcanic Eifel.
