Feel relaxation in the Eifel - my day at the Meerfelder Maar

With my comfortable walking shoes in my luggage, I set off for the Meerfelder Maar, near Manderscheid.
The Meerfelder Ma ar is 200 m deep , embedded in the largest Maar funnel of the Eifel. South of the Maar is the village of Meerfeld. A very small, idyllic place in the Eifel.

I stroll leisurely a round around the beautiful Maar, enjoy the peace and nature in the Eifel. Passing wonderful water lilies and listening to the birds chirping, it is great to relax and my head is cleared. The view of the water and the sparkling sunbeams, which are reflected in it, have a very calming effect. For all water rats among you: For cooling off, the designated bathing spots at Meerfelder Maar are suitable.

Although I have already heard a lot about this special vantage point Landesblick, but I had not yet been there myself. On foot, I now excitedly make my way, full of anticipation, what awaits me "above". A climb to the lookout tower Landesblick is rewarded!
Although I am not the fittest, the small ascent can be mastered well. And, what can I tell you: the view is worth all the effort. See for yourself:

It is quite stormy up here on the observation tower. Nevertheless, I linger a little, take a few deep breaths and enjoy the unique view.

Reward: irresistible cake in MAARIUM Hotel-Café-Restaurant

As a reward, I make a short detour on the way back to the MAARIUM Hotel-Café-Restaurant in Meerfeld. This café was featured in the SWR-Landesschau series "Cafés in Rhineland-Palatinate". And it keeps its promise: the homemade cakes taste outrageously good! Even a little naschen must be now and then 🙂
So slowly I make myself again on the way home. The Meerfelder Maar and the view from the vantage point Landesblick are since today my favorite places in the Volcanic Eifel. Absolutely experience for yourself.
