Explore the impressive beauty of the Volcanic Eifel on three stages of the Eifelsteig: maars, springs and castles are waiting to be discovered.

You can also travel to the fountain town of Gerolstein conveniently by public transport. After a relaxing night, this is the starting point of your hiking tour. You will now need to be in good physical condition, as the route takes you steadily up and down through the rolling hills that characterize the landscape to the spa town of Daun. Freshly fortified by a hearty breakfast, the second stage takes you along the three Daun maars; deep blue volcanic lakes whose shores invite you to pause and reflect. Away from the roads, the trail now leads through the quiet Liesertal valley before climbing up to the majestic castles of Manderscheid. The next day, the Lieser also accompanies hikers for part of the way before the Eifelsteig branches off and leads through forests, which repeatedly offer views of the impressive Eifel heights, to Himmerod Abbey, the final point of the hike. A very special experience awaits you here at the end of the tour: an overnight stay in a monastery.
