The accessible circular trail around the Schalkenmehren maar offers a relaxed walk through the impressive volcanic landscape of the Eifel over a distance of around 3 kilometers. The continuously asphalted path is particularly suitable for families with children, older people and people with limited mobility.

The starting point is a barrier-free parking lot at the Schalkenmehren tourist information office. The circular route can be shortened at any time.

The Maarbad can be reached at the Hotel-Restaurant Schneider am Maar. Barrier-free WC facilities, a terrace and a jetty by the water invite you to take a break. On a short section (approx. 300 m), the path has a gradient of over 6%; assistance may be useful here.

A particular highlight is the 65-metre-long bench - the longest in the Volcanic Eifel - with a beautiful view of the maar. Towards the end of the trail, it is worth taking a closer look at the nature reserve where, with a bit of luck, you may spot frogs, lizards or ducks.
