Karolingerweg (15) – 2. Etappe

Dieser Hauptwanderweg (HWW) verbindet die Mosel von Cochem aus durch das wildromantische Enderttal mit der zentralen Vulkaneifel, geht über Ulmen und Daun zum Nerother Kopf, überquert in Mürlenbach das Kylltal und führt durch prächtige Wälder zur berühmten Abteistadt Prüm im Tal der Prüm. 

This Main Hiking Trail (HWW) connects the Moselle at Cochem with the Central Vulkaneifel through the wild and romantic Endert Valley, passes through Ulmen and Daun to the Nerother Kopf, crosses the Kyll Valley at Mürlenbach, and leads through magnificent forests to the famous abbey town of Prüm in the Prüm Valley.

The Karolingerweg is named after the Carolingian dynasty, which had close ties to the Southern Eifel (landholdings) and whose family monastery was located in Prüm. The relic—the sandals of Christ—and the tomb of Emperor Lothar I are housed in the Basilica of St. Salvator in Prüm.

Charlemagne, arguably the most famous >Carolingian<, was presumably born on the estate that once stood on this site, before Bertrada Castle was built.
