From its source to where it flows into the Moselle, the Lieser Trail follows the small river from which it takes its name. Along this trail, you’ll leave civilization further behind with every step and immerse yourself deeply in the nature of the Vulkaneifel. You’ll hike past the brilliant blue Gemündener Maar, glistening lakes, and ancient volcanoes; across bright green meadows and through mysterious, dense forests; and past old mills, castles, and the vineyards of the Moselle. In the silence of nature, you’ll unwind, clear your mind, and reconnect with yourself.
The 74-kilometer-long hiking trail connects the Eifel and the Moselle. Its four stages are a challenge for experienced hikers. But the effort is well worth it: The Lieserpfad not only takes you to Daun and Manderscheid and past many scenic highlights of the Vulkaneifel. Along the way, there are numerous places to stop for refreshments, and there are also opportunities for detours to cultural attractions.
