Wanderungum Ulmen mit dem Eifelverein Daun

Dauner Eifelverein invites you to hike in the Ulmener Land "around and in Ulm".

The Eifelverein local group Daun cordially invites all members and hiking enthusiasts from the region to a varied and historical circular hike on Saturday, October 17, 2026.

The hike takes us from Meiserich through the fields to Ulmen with its fairy tale fountain in the marketplace and the castle ruins above the town center. Knight Heinrich von Ulmen temporarily takes us back to the time of the 4th Crusade before we descend at the crater rim of the youngest maar in the Eifel. We experience pure volcanism from the inside in the maar tunnel, the town's latest attraction, we circle the Jungferweiher on flat paths, and observe its rare plant and waterfowl life. The return path to Meiserich takes us through the northwestern part of the town, past the former Bundeswehr barracks area with its civilian settlements and by the Meisericher Mill back to the starting point of our hike.

The crowning conclusion is the visit to the completely newly restored St. Anna Church in Meiserich, which is around 500 years old, with its special treasure alongside its three altars: a wooden carved antependium from the year 1585.

The easy full-day hike is approximately 10 km long and lasts about 4 - 4 ½ hours.
Sturdy footwear, bringing binoculars and packed lunch are recommended.
