The psychological puberty is known to begin around thirteen years of age. Those who think it ends at sixteen are mistaken. Because at the beginning of forty, I'm just really in it! Okay, an artist needs strong emotions. How else is she supposed to write moving songs? But I clearly have too many of them: There's the urge to save the world, the joy of aging, the fear of getting older, the wish to poison my dog, the guilty conscience because I have the wish to poison my dog, the longing for the great Hollywood love, the desire for casual sex, the ravenous hunger for calorie-rich food, the unstoppable will to write a hit, the inner emptiness because I've been trying to write a hit for years, the unconditional love for my child, and the hate for mothers who can craft. How am I supposed to deal with all these emotions? How can I filter them? No idea. But I'm trying – in my songs. The multiple award-winning chanson singer and cabaret artist Anna Piechotta, recently honored with the prestigious Bavarian Cabaret Award 2023 (Music), performs a contemplative reflection in her program "Too Many Emotions" to finally reclaim her self-identity as a middle-aged woman. Whether she succeeds remains questionable. What is not in question – it will be funny, witty, and extremely musical.
