About the history: Who was this Dietrich anyway?
He lived from 1423 to 1498 and reigned as Imperial Count from 1457 to 1488. During his reign, he significantly expanded his sphere of influence through acquisitions and a clever inheritance policy. Thus, since 1468, he could call himself Dietrich III., Count of Manderscheid and Blankenheim, Lord of Schleiden and Jünkerath.
