36th Advent Concert of the Kulturkreis Daun

Sunday, 2nd Advent, December 6, 2026, 5:00 p.m., St. Nikolaus Church Daun – Free admission

The Kulturkreis Daun invites you to a reflective and at the same time enjoyable concert at the St. Nikolaus Church in Daun. For many years, this concert has been conducted by Professor Johannes Geffert, Professor Emeritus for artistic organ playing and improvisation at the University of Music in Cologne, who has made a name for himself through his pioneering interpretations of works by Bach and Liszt.
Instrumental concerts by Francesco Manfredini and Pietro Baldassare make the baroque splendor audible. As always, the trumpeter Scheerer shines. The mezzo-soprano Amira Elmadfa, known for numerous concert engagements in Vienna, Basel, Berlin, Salzburg, and Dresden, will perform a delicate 'Benedictus' from the Mass by Antonio Diabelli, textually suitable for Advent. But opera can also embrace religious texts and evoke great emotions. Thus, Verdi's famous aria 'La vergine degli Angeli' can be heard in an arrangement for voice and organ! Advent flute sounds resonate over Bach's aria 'Wohl euch, ihr auserwählten Seelen.' In Telemann's Concerto, four instruments harmoniously compete with each other. The renowned flutist Ulrike Friedrich, Lisa Henn and Lilia Hägele with violins, along with the special instrument of the concert, the cymbalum, played by Nadzeya Karakulka. Robert Nokolayczik accompanies on the cello, and Johannes Geffert at the organ and harpsichord.

We can look forward to a special musical experience. Donations are welcome. www.kulturkreis-daun.de
